Summer Schedule

July Rehearsals

The late June/July rehearsals are mandatory for all percussion, guard, and new marchers (a.k.a. "rookies"). Any conflicts should be discussed with the directory, Ms. Ulrey. Returning winds are also encouraged to attend these practices. Music for all winds will be available on July 10; percussion and guard work will begin later in the summer rehearsals.

• Drumline practice from 4:30pm to 7:30pm on all Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on July 8, 2003 and continuing through July 31, 2003.
• Full marching band practices from 4:30pm to 7:30pm on all Thursdays starting on July 10, 2003 and continuing through July 31, 2003
• Guard has clinics from 1:00pm to 6:00pm on Thursday and Friday, June 26 and 27, 2003, and Wednesday through Friday, July 23-25, 2003.

Remember: rehearsals will be held regardless of weather conditions. Please dress for outside activity, i.e. sunscreen, bugspray, etc. Bring a hat, water bottle, and tennis shoes - no hi-tops or sandals. These rules apply all throughout the season.

Pre-Band Camp

• Uniform fitting on Monday and Tuesday, August 11/12 from 4:00pm - 8:30pm - all TJMC need come only one day for uniform fittings. No rehearsal.
• Full day rehearsal for rookies, guard, drumline, and leadership - Wednesday and Thursday, August 13 and August 14, from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Section leaders will be tested on music as well.
• Full day rehearsal for all TJMC from 8:00am to 5:00pm on Friday, August 15, 2003. All TJMC will be tested on music.

Band Camp

Band Camp is being held at Shrine Mont in Orkney Springs, Virginia. Look in your TJMC packet for more information on the activities during band camp.

• Check in at TJHSST at 9:00am on Sunday, August 17, 2003. Be sure you have everything you need with you, including a bag lunch for Sunday.
• Return to TJHSST at 1:00pm on Friday, August 22, 2003.

Post Band Camp

• Formal pictures from 12:30pm to 3:00pm on Saturday, August 23, 2003. NO PRACTICE.
• Practices from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday through Thursday, August 25 through 28. Practices will be followed by social events nightly.
• Monday night, August 25 - Party at Erik Silk's house from 9pm to 11pm. Woodwinds bring chips, cookies, and other snacks; brass bring drinks; drumline/guard bring paper cups, plates, and napkins.
• Tuesday night, August 26 - Cosmic Bowling at Bowl America on Edsall Road, Alexandria, from 9pm to 12pm. Cost is $6 for shoes and unlimited games.
• Wednesday night, August 27 - Party at DJ Frazier's house from 9pm to 11pm. Woodwinds bring paper cups, plates, and napkins; brass bring chips, cookies, and other snacks; drumline/guard bring drinks.
• Picnic and TJMC preview performance on August 28, 2003. Practice is from 4pm to 6pm, followed by the performance at 6pm.
• Performance for freshman orientation on August 29, 2003 at 7:50am. Frosh will perform with TJMC until 9:00am then join the class of 2007 for the activities. All other TJMC will be dismissed at this time.

After School Practices

• Sectionals on Mondays from 4:15pm to 5:45pm
• Full TJMC rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:15pm to 7:00pm

Note: Practices end after late busses depart. A list of TJMC members sorted by zip code will be available later in the season.

Football Schedule

TJMC plays for all home varisty football games. All marchers must be in uniform with their instruments on Weyanoke field at 6:00pm. Dismissal will follow march back to the band room at approximately 10:30pm.

Away games include a voluntary pep band that leaves TJHSST at 6:30pm and returns at approximately 11:00pm. Each game will have a sign up sheet; marchers receive letter points for participation.

Competitions

Marchers should plan to attend ALL competitions, and should commit the entire day to TJMC. Each competition day will begin with a 2-hour rehearsal at TJHSST, followed by a snack, pack out, then travel.
